Wendy Cox Veazey

On the morning of May 23rd, Wendy Cox Veazey, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, tragically and suddenly passed away at the age of 55. It was a devastating event that will be felt for a lifetime by all who loved her. Throughout her life, Wendy acted as a massive pillar of support for her family and a devoted and loving friend. She was brilliant, vivacious, and truly unforgettable to all who knew her. Wendy led an extraordinary life overcoming obstacles literally and figuratively, remaining kind, compassionate, and exhibiting strength and constitution unparalleled throughout. Her spirit was fiery, her flame was bright, her absence is one felt deeply and with great sadness. She was certainly taken too soon, leaving behind many who will remember fondly the woman who cared and loved unconditionally, with her whole heart. Wendy was born and raised in New Orleans to Ronald and Barbara Cox, graduated from Marion Abramson high school in 1981, and married Donald "Kent" Veazey, a firefighter, on November 28th, 1987. She was passionate and talented - ice skating competitively for many years, eventually becoming an instructor, and it was through this career path that she found much satisfaction and joy, though she easily slid into other positions and job opportunities, excelling at all she attempted. In 2001 she created her own business, becoming self-employed to devote as much time and care she possibly could to her favorite job- being an amazing mother. Wendy is survived by her two children - DJ and Veronica Veazey, grandson - Benjamin West, three brothers - Wayne (Debra), Christopher (Marianne), and Ryan (Michelle) Cox, two nieces - Anderson and Fifi Cox, and three beloved cats - Alaska, Houdini, and Franz. She is preceded in death by her husband Kent, parents - Barbara and Ronald L. Cox, and niece - Madeline Rose Cox. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by words of remembrance at 11:00 a.m. Wearing bright colors is encouraged to celebrate the vibrant life lost and missed dearly.
