Sandra Pertuit Nunez

Sandra Pertuit Nunez, 79, a native of New Orleans and resident of Metairie, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Sandra is survived by her children, Donna Hamrick Mohr (David), Don “Butch” Hamrick Jr. (Michelle), Ann-Marie Nunez Williams (Malcolm); grandchildren, Daniel Mohr, Devin Mohr, Ian Williams; great-grandchildren, Brayden Mohr, Mason Wertz, Ellie Mae Wertz, Jacob Schwartz, Maddie Schwartz; and beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Pertuit Sr. and Pauline Marshall Pertuit; brothers, George Pertuit Jr. and Ricky Pertuit, and late husbands, Donald Hamrick Sr. and Fraterno “Freddy” Nunez. Sandra attended Wright High School and she also graduated from Cosmetology College, but her true calling was being the best nanny to Ashley, Meme, Daniel, Sam, Michael, Brian, Avery and many more that she loved and who all loved her dearly. Taking care of these little ones was her joy. Sandra was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Parish and supported youth athletics at Wisner Playground as well as various volleyball organizations. She also supported and helped manage various family business endeavors. Sandra was a generous and loving person who enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, watching LSU and Saints football, and most of all spending time with her family. She always put her family first and was always there for anyone who needed her. Her favorite catch phrases were: “I’m gonna tell you like it is”, “Mark my words”, and “Everything happens for a reason”. There are so many people who crossed paths with Sandra, and the family would like to thank everyone who was a part of her journey, including Hospice Specialists of Louisiana and the physicians and staff at Touro Infirmary who treated her with so much compassion and care. Sandra touched many lives throughout the years, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will never be forgotten, and her life will be celebrated for eternity. L. A.
