Mark Edward Autin

Mark Edward Autin, age 67, passed away on 02/12/2024 after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born in Westwego, LA, he was a resident of Old Jefferson for the past 14 years. Mark was born on January 6th, 1957 to the late Clifford Joseph Autin, Jr. and Noel Reuss Autin. He was the step-son of James Romano, Sr. Mark leaves behind a loving family including brothers Cliff Autin (Colleen) and Brandon Romano (Kirsten) as well as nephews and nieces Timothy Autin, Nicole Autin, Julian Romano and Alden Romano. Mark was a graduate of Our Lady of Prompt Succor School and West Jefferson High School and attended UNO for several years. He worked as a mixologist and beverage manager for notable establishments including Bacco’s, Royal Sonesta, Club 4141, Galatoires and Maison Dupuy. He also worked in sales for local apparel and automotive outlets. Mark was one of a kind and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved European cars, owning many different luxury and sports models during his lifetime. As a teenager, he enjoyed drag racing and helped with the work on funny cars and dragsters at Boogie Scott’s shop. In his youth, he played guitar for a few different garage bands and was an altar boy for OLPS. He was also editor of an underground high school newspaper and loved classic rock and roll music. He attended KofC summer camp at Camp’s Abbey and MaryHill. For many years, he lived either uptown or in the French Quarter. He also lived in his cabin cruiser at Orleans Marina for several years, returning immediately back to it after evacuating for Hurricane Katrina.. Some of his favorite pastimes include playing Madden or enjoying crawfish with good friends Greg F. and Joey H. He also loved spending time with Gina B. Mark loved nothing better than a grilled steak or attending family cookouts, swim parties and holiday gatherings. As a youngster, he also enjoyed many family vacations throughout the U.S., including car trips from New Orleans to Los Angeles, NYC, Colorado and Quebec. Mark enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a loyal fan of LSU and Saints football. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Prompt Succor, 146 Fourth St., Westwego, LA on Saturday, February, 17, 2024. Visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Westwego, LA. Arrangement by L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home.
