Laura Ann Kaleher

Laura Kaleher (née Sherman), born on March 22, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on August 11, 2024, in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 62. Laura was a vibrant and charismatic individual known for her humor and friendly demeanor. She brought joy and laughter to all who knew her, making every gathering a memorable event. Laura is survived by a loving family: her husband, Patrick Kaleher; her son, Timothy Kaleher (fiancée Brittany B.); her daughter, Brittany Garay (Joseph); her sisters, Christa Sherman (Warren) and Rhonda Sherman; her sister-in-laws, Janice Findley and Mary Villarrubia (Mike); along with many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, including Joseph Patrick Garay and Genevieve Kate Garay. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of another granddaughter this year. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Jackie Ernest Sherman Senior and Eleanora C. Sherman; her brother, Jackie Ernest Sherman Junior; her brother-in-law, Harlen Findley (Janice); and her sister-in-law, Janet Kaleher. Laura had a passion for life, which was evident in her diverse hobbies. She was an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers, bringing energy and spirit to game days. Laura also cherished time spent playing games with her sisters and her best friend, Deborah Drake. Her artistic talents were a lesser-known aspect of her life, showcasing her ability to see beauty in the everyday. Laura's laughter was contagious, and she had an exceptional knack for finding humor in any situation, often cracking jokes that lightened the hearts of those around her. A devoted animal lover, Laura's pets held a special place in her heart, reflecting her nurturing and caring nature. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she delighted in spending quality time with them, passing on her joyful spirit and love for laughter. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Christopher’s Church, located at 3900 Derbigny St., Metairie, LA 70001. A Mass will follow at 11:00 am. Those who knew Laura are invited to join in celebrating her life and the countless memories she leaves behind.
