Joseph W. Graff, Jr.

Joseph W. Graff, Jr., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. Born on February 19, 1949, Joseph lived a life rooted in love, loyalty, and devotion to the people who meant the most to him. He was married to the love of his life, Christina Harvey Graff, for 48 years, and their bond remained the heart of his world. A proud graduate of John Curtis Christian School, Class of 1968, Joseph carried a strong work ethic and Catholic faith into every chapter of his life. Over the years, he held several occupations, including working in the family crab business and at the airport, but his greatest professional joy came from his work as a Private Investigator. Joseph also had a deep love for the Smoky Mountains, a place that brought him peace, joy, and a sense of escape. Whether it was the quiet roads, the cool mountain air, or simply being surrounded by nature, the Smokies were his happy place, and he cherished every visit. More than anything, Joseph cherished time with his family. Some of his favorite moments were spent on the front porch sharing a “pop” with Christina or watching his children and grandchildren play sports. If he wasn’t working, you could find him at the bowling alley or on the sidelines of a football field, cheering on the people he loved most. His family was his pride, and he always put them first. He loved reminiscing and sharing stories about the past and always bragging about his kids and grandkids accomplishments. Joseph is survived by his wife, Christina Graff, and his three children: Richard Weaver (Lauren), Verona Weaver (Jeremy), and Christopher Graff, Sr. (Lori). He is also survived by his grandchildren - Jordan Rodriguez, Marcella Aguilar, Nicholas Aguilar, Avery Noah, Cooper Gray Weaver, Aaron Graff, Christopher Graff, Jr., and Austin Graff - and his great-grandchildren, Caleb Rodriguez, Mia Rodriguez, and Karmyn Aguilar. He is also survived by his sister, Olivia Ehlers Schreiner (Jim) of North Carolina; his favorite cousin, Lloyd Graff (Debbie) of Saint Rose, Louisiana; and numerous extended family members and friends, including many of his son Chris’s close friends, who were like sons to him. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, Mazie Morehouse Graff and Joseph Wilfred Graff, Sr. The family will hold a private celebration of his life at a later date.
