John J. Quinn, Sr.

John J. Quinn, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the age of 68. He was born in Oswego, NY and a resident of Harahan, LA after moving to LA in 1977 with his wife. Beloved husband of Julie Gleesing Quinn. Loving father of John J. Quinn Jr., and Loving Father in Law of Krystle Lister Quinn. Son of the late Evelyn DeSantis Quinn and John Quinn. Brother of Karen Rose (Kirk). Uncle of Jason Rose and the late Kevin Rose. We would have to write a book to describe what a beautiful soul John was. Those that knew him either liked or loved him right away. He always had a quick beautiful smile and infectious laugh. With his great sense of humor and quick whit, he had that rare gift for making everyone smile and laugh, putting them at ease right away. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, that we would tease him about his “Font of Useless Information”. He had a love of anything having to do with Carpentry, and that is what he did his whole life. Everything he ever did was done with honesty and integrity. He took great pride and pleasure in figuring out how to fix any problem, using his (font of information) ;-),construction wise or personal. With his strong sense of values, his work ethic was impeccable. We affectionately called him SuperMan and Mr. Fix It. He was the most upbeat, brightest star in our family, and would help or fix anything for anyone. He fought through the last 4 years of pancreatic cancer with a vengeance, as it was in his nature to gave it his all. He survived as long as he did with his good attitude and determination to beat that monster disease. When he was ready to go, he waited until his son came home to take care of his wife. With both his son and his wife holding him, he finally went home into the welcoming arms of Jesus. The very next day he sent his wife a butterfly to let her know he is finally at peace, is still with her and will watch over her. We would ask you to not remember his cancer days, but the way he was like before, and the impact he had on those who knew him. His smile, his laugh, his willingness to go that extra mile will truly, sorely be missed. As his wife was quick to say “They broke that mold” and he will Always and Forever be loved. A heartfelt thank you to the whole team at Heart of Hospice, we are so grateful and blessed to have had you with us. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Memorial Service at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
