James Joseph "Jim" Kenny

James Joseph “Jim” Kenny, a resident of Kenner, LA, passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the age of 75. Jim was born March 18, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA to Catherine R. Duffy Kenny and James Thomas Kenny. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, PA in 1965 and from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA in 1969 with a degree in Economics. He started working for Dun & Bradstreet in Philadelphia, being promoted to managerial positions in Trenton, NJ, Allentown, PA, Miami, FL and back to Philadelphia, PA. In 1981 he had the opportunity to move to New Orleans, LA and to start U.S. Copy, Inc. located in Kenner, LA. He loved golf and was a member of Chateau Golf and Country Club since 1982. With his wife he traveled all over the world his last international trip being Egypt where he returned from on March 12, 2020, just before the world shut down due to Covid. He also loved traveling in the United States. He was a beach person going to the South Jersey beaches every summer with his family. When he moved to New Orleans, Destin was his beach of choice having a home there for 29 years. In 2017 he sold it and bought a condo on the beach in Gulf Shores. He loved all sports and was a fan of the Saints and the Pelicans. He loved movies, dining out, theater and just being with his family and friends. He was a kind, gentle and generous man. He will be terribly missed by so many people. Beloved husband of Catherine McGuire Kenny for 51 years. Loving father of Michael J. Kenny (Anne) and Heather Kenny Smith. Grandfather of Mitchell J. Smith, II and Andrew J. Smith. Son of the late James T. Kenny and Catherine R. Kenny. Brother of William M. Kenny and Eileen M. Kenny. Uncle of Michele Kenny Randle (John) and Coleen Kenny Hubert (Tom) of New Orleans. Brother-in-law of Jane H. Kenny. Great uncle of Will Randle and Jake Randle. Also survived by many more relatives in Philadelphia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy., Kenner on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Visitation at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Philadelphia in June in his family’s plot. Arrangements by L.A.
