Chandrawatee Lalla “Sandy” Mohammed went to Heaven to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2021. She was 73 years old. When she left this world, her husband Steve, her son Mark, and her daughter-in-law Jean and her neighborhood friends were by her side. She was born in Barrackpore, Trinidad and resided in Kenner since 1978. She is the daughter of the late Rampersad Lalla and Sonie Maraj both of Barrackpore, Trinidad. Beloved wife of Steve Mohammed. Loving mother of Mark who resides in Kenner, LA; Suresh who resides with his family in Knoxville, TN; Sharon who resides with her family in Penal, Trinidad; and Vidya who resides with her family in Bronx, NY. Mother-in-law of Jean, Chuck, Ken and Asha. Sister of “DooDoo.” Grandmother of Sally, Shane, Kevin, Stacy, Felisha, Neil, Anill, Sarah, Sabrina, Cassidy, Matthew and Joshua. Great grandmother of Micah, Ashtee and Priya. She loved animals, especially cats. Before passing she was Cat Mom to Ellie and Tigger (deceased). She was Dog Grand Ma to Raj. Sandy always had a smile and kind words for everyone. She was an outgoing person who never met a stranger and will be remembered for her love for her family, gentleness, generosity, laughs and smiles. She enjoyed sewing, fishing in Hopedale, Bayou Bienvenue and the Louisiana marsh, and planting her vegetable garden, growing flowers, and Mardi Gras. Sandy enjoyed entertaining family, and long time neighborhood friends, Willie and his family and Jacques and Deannie and their family. She loved to cook East Indian food. She loved going back to Miami, Florida and visiting with lifelong friends Amral, Fareeda “Daughter” and their family and Krishna, Iris and their family. Of course while in Florida she had to visit the beach and Roti Shop. Throughout her life Sandy worked very hard and was well liked by her co-workers and customers. She worked for Eckerd Drugs in the Cosmetology Department in Miami, FL and Kenner, LA (Chateau Estates). She also worked for Intralox, Harahan, LA and was the owner of Chateau Gift Shoppe in the early 1990s. Sandy loved to read her bible and follow the various religious programs on television. It goes without saying, she has made and shared with all of us so many wonderful memories, she will certainly be missed. She is at home in Heaven with her beloved cat Tigger enjoying perfect peace and free from pain. Love you Babe – see you in Heaven when it’s my turn – Love you always.
