Carey William Roberts, Jr. May 4, 1966 – September 6, 2024 Beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew and uncle Carey William Roberts, Jr. passed unexpectedly from this life on the evening of Sept. 6 in his home with his wife of 36 years by his side. Carey was 58 years old at the time of his passing. He was a long-time resident of River Ridge, LA and was born on May 4 or as he would always say ‘May the 4th be with you’, in Metairie, LA. He is the son of Rose Marilyn Gatlin Roberts of River Ridge and the late Carey William Roberts, Sr. He married his college sweetheart, Kimberly McFarland Roberts, and they have three children together that were the light of his life – Victoria Mary Roberts Dedo (Christopher), Carey Ryan Ramsey Roberts (Nora) and Isabella Rose Roberts. He is survived by his sister Karen Roberts Mackenroth (Tim), mother-in-law Mary Jo Ferrara, sister-in-law Amanda McFarland Giardina, brother-in-law William McFarland, nephews, nieces, cousins, uncle and aunts. Carey never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone he met. He had a warm smile and a tid-bit of information or trivia to share in every conversation he had. He would give you the shirt off his back and spent years volunteering at St. Matthew the Apostle with the Men’s Club, school, youth group and CYO along with coaching at Little Farms Playground and serving as the swim representative and stroke judge at Paradise Manor Community Club. Everyone knew they could count on him. He was a proud United States Marine and deployed in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Carey graduated from Louisiana Tech University, where he played the alto saxophone in the marching and concert bands, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He spent his career designing and selling industrial conveyor belts and was a well-respected expert in the industry. Services for Carey will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy. River Ridge LA, visitation 10:30 a.m.-noon, Mass noon. Burial will follow at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell. A reception will follow.
