Robert E. Blake entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the age of 94. He was born on October 17, 1926 in Harvey, LA, raised in New Orleans and resided in Metairie, LA. He retired from ILA (Longshoreman) and spent 44 years working on the river. Beloved husband of Vera Griffitt Blake for 47 years. Loving father of Robert E. Blake, Jr. (Mary), John P. Blake (Carole), Bonnie Blake Miketey (Larry) and Terri L. Blake (TomTom). Step father of Frank N. Griffitt (Karen), John B. Griffitt (Valerie), Terri A. Mathews (Kenny) and the late Patrick Griffitt. Son of the late Waunita Norris and Charles Robert Blake. Brother of the late Shirley Harryman. Grandfather of 21 and Great grandfather of 29. Uncle of Shirley (Sissie) Cutura (Luka) and Barbara E. Gaal (Martin). He had many, many other nieces and nephews. Special thanks to special neighbors, Rogeliot Cruz & Family. Bob was a marvelous dancer and traveled all over the U.S. to dance conventions. Bob and Vera hosted 5 years of N.O. dance Extravaganzas in New Orleans from 1996-2001, where people all over the U.S. attended. Bob and Vera enjoyed sailing, antique cars, and Rving which they traveled from the West Coast to the East Coast. Bob was a legend in the Dance Community, also a legend to his family and friends. Bob and his entire family and friends enjoyed great gatherings at their summer home “MY PLACE”. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Thursday, July 8, 2021. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at. 11:00 a.m. Interment in Cypress Grove Cemetery.
