Let us remember the life of our beloved Mother/Grandmother/ Great Grandmother “Maria Cristina Masrrua (Family)” Maria Cristina Masrrua passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 with her family at her side. She was 85, a native of Habana, Cuba and a resident of River Ridge, Louisiana. Loving mother of Francisca Gorman (Walter) and Rosalia Steele (Ronald). Grandmother of Yamila Alonso (Joel), Alexander Gorman (Katie), Michelle Harris (Russell), and Elizabeth Caldarera (Michael). Great grandmother of Olivia Gorman, Kayla and Zackary Gorman, Luna Harris; Adrianna, Michael and Mila Caldarera. She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Juana Trujillo; beloved husband, Alfredo Masrrua; and her sister, Caridad Seoane. Maria was known to her family as: Mami, Mami Gorda, Big Mami, Mimi. She always used phrases like: tenga mucho cuidado mi corazon”, “te quiero mucho:, “povresita Lourdes or Lina”, Dios los bendiga(s)”, “cosita linda”. Mami’s favorite things to do and hobbies: sew knit, crochet, needle point, spend time with her family, loved great food especially desserts. She collected dolls, peacocks, polka dot fabric, playing jax and little crab figurines. The most important thing in her life was God and her family. We will greatly miss you Mami Querida! Private Graveside Service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery in St. Rose, LA on Friday, November 13, 2020. In lieu of flowers, Maria expressed her wishes of donations to her favorite charity and can be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
