Lois Marie Foret
September 8, 1948 - October 21, 2021
Lois Marie Foret of New Orleans, LA passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 21, 2021 at the age of 73. A lifetime resident of the New Orleans area, Lois was a proud graduate of Cabrini High School (Class of ’66). She leaves behind many relatives and friends including niece and godchild Melissa Cherie Foret, nephew Shawn Foret, step-children Scott Duff (Natalie) and Shannon Duff Anderson (Richard), and step-grandchildren Shelby and Abby Duff, and Richie, Matthew, and Michael Anderson. She is preceded in death by her father (Ilange) and mother (Clovine) and her brother (Bryan). She had many, many friends from her clubs, schooling, and past jobs that she loved dearly. Lois was one to never meet someone that she didn’t know. Often, friends and family would say she would meet complete strangers and within minutes be talking to them like they were long lost friends (many times they would actually be old acquaintances). Lois worked as a hairdresser at Andrew’s Beauty Salon and was a long-time associate at C’s Pharmacy and Patio Drugs. Lois was a proud member of the Kenner University Park Lions where she served her club and district in many officer and committee roles. She was a Lions Melvin Jones Fellow and a proud recipient of the Lions Camp Gold Star award. She loved to help bring the campers to the Lions Children’s Camp in Leesville and was always encouraging new campers to sign up to attend the Camp. Lois was an active member in the Friends of the Red Hats and the Dixie Darlings Red Hat chapters. She served as Queen of the Friends of the Red Hats chapter and loved to decorate hats and costumes for their gatherings and loved to spend time with her Red Hat friends. Lois was also a longtime member of the Hallmark Kollector’s Club and the Rosedale Club. Being a lifelong New Orleanian, she absolutely loved Mardi Gras and would be found on all of the parade routes through the Carnival season – cheering, dancing, and singing for the floats, bands, and dance teams. She rode with several parade krewes through the years including Krewe of Elks Jeffersonians, Irish-Italian Parade, Krewe of Isis, Krewe of Rhea and many more. She loved Mardi Gras so much, that to celebrate her life, her friends, family, and the staff at Lakeside Hospice put together a Mardi Gras parade which rolled in front of her house in April of 2021. The parade had friends, family, strangers, several popular Parade dancing groups, fire trucks, the Bug Patrol, and the group that pays tribute to Elvis (her favorite musician), the Rolling Elvis. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Lakeside Hospice for helping take care of Lois in the end of her life and the extra detail to love for her - keeping her smiling even in the roughest of times. Also, thank you to the staff at St Anthony’s Sr Living for their care and support of Lois. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Memorial Mass at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. A procession will follow to Garden of Memories Cemetery where she will be interred. At the cemetery, we will also hold a second line march in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Louisiana Lions Camp or the American Cancer Society.
