Lester Anthony LaBruyere

September 14, 1928 - December 27, 2020

Lester Anthony LaBruyere, 92, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2020 in Metairie, Louisiana. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Beryl Stall LaBruyere; his daughter, Jane Strahan (Jerry) and his two sons, David (Gayle) and Tim LaBruyere; his grandchildren, Chris (Lizie) and Jeff (Jenn) Strahan, Rachel, Mark (Kelly), Sam (Sara) and J. T. (Kendall) LaBruyere; and his great-grandchildren, Jack and Matthew Strahan, and Bryce, Lily and Lydia LaBruyere. He was preceded in death by his father, Lucius S. LaBruyere, Sr.; his mother, Vivian Mae Walle LaBruyere; and his siblings, Lucius S. (Adeline) LaBruyere, Jr. and Vivian L. (John) Brandt. Lester was born and raised in Marrero, LA. He moved to New Orleans when he married the love of his life. As their family grew they moved to Metairie, LA. From there they moved to Levittown, NY, then back to Metairie, on to Henderson, KY and finally back to Metairie. He was a doting husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Lester volunteered countless hours of his time to hospice patients, donated gallons of blood with the Red Cross, and participated in numerous church and civic groups. Lester was also a passionate golfer and would hit the green with his buddies and his grandkids whenever possible. He loved to play Scrabble and was notorious for his ability to score dozens of points with simple two-letter words (we swear he studied the Scrabble dictionary in his spare time). He and Beryl were avid travelers; visiting everywhere from China, Paris and Italy to Alaska and Key West, taking pictures every step of the way. Lester’s life was filled with the simple pleasures of service and loving time with friends and family. He will be missed. Due to the pandemic there will not be a Memorial Service at this time.
