    John David Mayeux

    September 5, 1935 - April 2, 2022

    John David Mayeux passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born on September 5, 1935, in Plaucheville, LA and was a resident of New Orleans, LA and Kenner, LA. John graduated from St, Joseph Academy in 1953 (under duress) accepting the general scholarship award. Then, in 1956, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree at Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Lafayette with a 2.80 GPA. Applying for a job as a Commercial Artist proved to be futile with no experience. Accepting employment as a Draftsman, he evolved into Design-Draftsman, spanning the fields of architecture, metal works, offshore oil platforms, refineries, reinspections of a nuclear plant, a wastewater plant operator, abandoned building monitor, a plan reviewer, developer of standards and office forms. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Evans Mayeux (1932), his father P. Clinton (1968), his mother Eunice Saucier (1975), his sister Vida Rose (1995) and by her husband Johnnie L. Ducote (1986), by his spouse Joyce T. Cunningham (1998), and by a number of aunts, uncles and relatives. He is survived by his son Christopher Shawn Mayeux, daughter Renee Munoz (Oscar), son Luke Mayeux (Lisa) and daughter Gina Brownlow (Richie). Also survived by his nephew Ricky Ducote (Karen), niece Cindy Bennett (Curtis), niece Tammy Ducote, granddaughter Brandi Chausse (Joshua) and great granddaughter Sadie J. Chausse, grandson Joshua Sage and a great granddaughter Zella R. Sage, and other grandsons, Kevin Sage, Timothy Bateson, Ryan Munoz (Dayana Frazer), Dawson Mayeux, and step-grandchildren Sarah Adkins (Thomas) and great granddaughters Olive J. and Lucy A. Adkins, Casey Carpenter (Thomas) and great granddaughter Alba A. Carpenter, Ronan Brownlow, and grand nephew, Nicholas Ducote, and scattered cousins, friends and acquaintances. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Friday, April 8, 2022. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:15 a.m. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery No. 3, New Orleans, LA.
