Joanne Fryer Stephens March 21,1937 - July 1, 2022 Joanne Faye Fryer Stephens entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 1, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born to John Frederick Fryer Sr., and Hilda Elizabeth Birckel Fryer in New Orleans, Louisiana, and lived there until moving to Metairie, Louisiana in 1968 and then in 2018 moved to Kenner, Louisiana where she lived until she entered her heavenly rest. Joanne accepted Jesus Christ when she was thirteen and remained a faithful follower of Jesus throughout her life. Joanne was an active member of First Assembly of God for seventy-two years. The joy of her life was attending church, worshipping the Lord, serving, and caring for people. Some of her happiest times were spent serving alongside the ladies of First Assembly and those she loved. Joanne truly had the heart of a servant and was willing to pitch in around the church no matter the task at hand, from cleaning the bathrooms to working in the office, preparing food, or singing in the choir. Her joyful enthusiasm was contagious, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She delighted in preparing and sharing meals, gardening, holiday baking, and playing ball with the grandkids, singing around the piano, and staying up late to talk with the family. Joanne married Morris A. Stephens on August 3, 1959, and they remained devoted one to another for fifty-nine years and nine months, until she was preceded in death by her beloved Morris on May 11, 2019. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, John Frederick and Hilda Fryer, her brother, John Fryer Jr., and her sister, Thelma Ziegler. She is survived by two daughters, Miriam Stephens McReynolds and husband Michael of Hillsboro, Texas, and Esther Stephens Nickolaus and husband, Edward of Kenner, Louisiana. A stepdaughter, Joelle Stephens and a stepson, Mark James Stephens of Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren, Preston McReynolds and wife Casey of Hillsboro, Texas, Rebekah McReynolds of Hillsboro, Texas, Edward Nickolaus III of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Elizabeth Nickolaus of Kenner, Louisiana, Rachelle Childs of Ohio, Courtney Reid of Ennis, Texas, Steivon Copher Jr., of Slidell, Louisiana. Twelve great grandchildren, Kate, Samuel, Ellie, Haley, Emily, Symantha, Tyler, Kayla, Brandon Jr., Destiny, Averey, and Mason and five great, great grandchildren. Her sister, Carol Ann Mendel and husband, Earl of Amite, Louisiana, many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews, and countless wonderful friends. Joanne, our beloved, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Friday, July 29, 2022. Visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m.
