She is also survived by her grandchildren Ann (Ray) McGowan; Dr. Renee (Trevor) Prokos; Nathan (Kristen); Adam; Shannon (Stephanie); James Glen; Elvia (Peter) Schreiber; Abigail; Karissa (John) Rowe; Jared; Michelle and Paul, IV. Her great-grandchildren Hunter; Sarah Brooke; Zoe; Scarlett; Noah; Hannah; Amelia; Kathryn; Sophie; Jackie, Jake, Peter; Louis; Cullen; Elyssa; Emma Grace; John and Great-great granddaughter Ella. Also surviving Flo are her first cousins, Mary Saltarrelli, Sr. Maureen Kossbiel and her sister-in-law, Roslyn (Don) Cimo, and nieces and nephews: Barbara (Bruce) Jentlesen, Paul (Tina) Cooney, Stephen (Kris) Cooney, Jennifer K. Saltarrelli, and Jerome G. Saltarrelli, and a host of great nieces and nephews. Flo never knew a stranger, and was beloved by all who knew her. We called her Daig, Gree Gras, Gee, Little Dago, but the four of us kids mostly called her Mama. She was a feisty, independent spirit who loved her family, friends, fishing, bingo, and cats. Flo was born on August 1, 1925 and grew up in New Orleans, and lived a good portion of her life there, where she met a local grocer’s son, Paul, and married him. They moved to Chalmette, and up until the day before Katrina, Flo worked for a local attorney in Arabi as a legal secretary. She was 80 years old when Katrina struck, and like most in St. Bernard, lost everything. She moved to Kenner, and found a wonderful community at Westminister Towers, an independent living home. Flo loved it there, and they loved having her there. Flo loved her family and friends deeply, and she was deeply loved in return. While we will miss her every day of our remaining lives, it is with the sure knowledge that she is with our Father in heaven. All her pain is gone, and she has been reunited with the beloved family members that have gone before. Thanks to the community at Westminister for providing such a loving place for her to live. Thanks to Serenity Hospice for the wonderful support and care you gave to our mother and our family, and thank you to Pastor CJ and her loving church community at First English. A Graveside Memorial will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Toca, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends of Westminister Tower, 3309 Sugarmill Road, Kenner, LA 70065 or First English Lutheran Church, 3701 Cleary Avenue, Metairie, LA 70002.
