Erick Camille "Big E" St. Amant

    February 16, 1941 - February 10, 2022

Erick Camille “Big E” St. Amant 2/16/1941 – 2/10/2022 Big E passed away from Pulmonary Fibrosis at the age of 80. Mr. St. Amant was born in Norco La and was a current resident of Destrehan La for the past 27 years. He was a lifelong resident of St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes. Erick was a 1959 graduate of Destrehan High School where he competed in 4 major sports. He was the founder of the Oldies but Goodies Dance and Social Club which became a non-profit supporting people in need. He served on the Riverside Academy School board and was a former member of the St. Charles Borromeo Men of Manresa. Erick owned, operated and retired from the St. Amant Insurance Agency. He also retired for the St. John Parish government after 12 years of service. His true passions in life were Networking, anything involving politics, networking, all things LSU sports and finally, networking. He loved being in the mix and trying to help people as best he could. He was very proud to say that he was the first person to tailgate and cook at the college world series in Omaha in 1987. Big E was always quick with a joke and a real-life story. Like the time he got caught in a stampede in the spillway. Or the time he went crawfishing and brought frozen blackberries for bait instead of frozen melt. Or when he jumped the wall and ran across the LSU football field in the 70’s (a big no no) after a Tiger victory. Or the time he was chased by a pack of dogs down the airline hwy riding his granny bike with a broken pedal. Ask anyone who knew him, and they will tell you that he was a very unique individual (character). He was preceded in death by his parents; L.T. “Frog” St. Amant and Velma Babin St. Amant. His son, Ricky St. Amant, His stepson Fred Roth, Step great grandson Randal “Tripp” Roth, Brother Larry St. Amant and wife Carolyn and sister-in law Marilyn St. Amant. Erick is survived by his wife of nearly 22 years, Patricia St. Amant; Sons Kerry St. Amant (Janis), Jeremy “Zoo” St. Amant (Kim). Step daughter in law Toni Roth Russo, Step daughter Desiree Harrison (Marshall), Step sons Randal Roth Sr (Rhonda), Patrick Roth (Lydia), his brother Louis (Coach Lou) St. Amant. 9 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all the friends that visited and said their last goodbyes. Thanks to Compassus Hospice for keeping Erick comfortable. And most of all, thanks to Maw Pat for everything you have done for Big E over the past 27 years, especially the past few months. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Arrangements by L.
