Barbara Ann Ovella Sauer

Barbara Ovella Sauer died peacefully at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the age of 90. She will be remembered as a caring, loving and devoted wife and mother. She looked forward to spending time with family and thoroughly enjoyed monthly family days at her house. She graduated from Metairie High School in 1948. She was an ardent Saints fan and proud owner of Ovella’s Restaurant and Bar in Old Metairie In her younger years, she bowled in several bowling leagues at Pelican and Colonial Bowling Alley. Because she was retired, she was able to work in her garden, crochet Afghans that she gave to her children, grandchildren and anybody who needed one. She loved to watch Bonanza, Blue Blood and Gunsmoke while eating her Little Debbie cakes. The family will be forever grateful to Heart of Hospice and Serenity Hospice Services for the wonderful care they provided during these last months. Beloved wife of the late Jerome Anathole Sauer. Mother of Donna Sauer Carver, Stephen Jerome Sauer, Connie Sauer Rigdon (Harold), Sandy Sauer Boeckl (the late Paul), and Sheri Sauer McLemore (Charlie). Grandmother of Jessica Carver Gros (Steven), Nicholas Carver, Cody Rigdon, Hailey Boeckl, Anthony Pursley, Timothy ‘TJ’ Pursley, Alexandria Luttrell (the late Andy), and Tammy Sanders (Lee). Daughter of the late Essie Agnes Lambert Ovella and Emile Ovella, Sr. Sister of Emile Ovella, Jr. (Henri) and the late Janice Ovella Haddican. Also survived by 7 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Friday, June 24, 2022. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie, LA.
