William E. Murray, III

William E. Murray III, long-time resident of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on June 12th, 2019, in Cypress, TX. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Murray, and their children, Lori (Victor) Imbornone, Gregory (Tina) Murray and seven brothers and sisters: Daniel Murray, Shirley Callegari, Richard Murray, Michael Murray, Steven Murray, Julie Hankel, and Brian Murray. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, William E. Murray, Jr. and Julia Althea Murray. He is the beloved grandfather of Abigail Imbornone, Shelby Adourian, Margaret Imbornone, Victoria Imbornone, Macy Murray, Marley Murray, and Madeline Murray. Bill was blessed, too, with 5 great granddaughters - Natalie, Melanie and Valerie Lovell, and Paisley and Kinsley Adourian. Family meant the world to him and he would light up at the mere thought of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family. Bill worked for many years as a factory representative for Seabrook Wallcoverings across the Gulf Coast. But, his greatest achievement was his music. As leader and drummer of “The Nobles Band” for nearly 50 years, he performed at countless Mardi Gras celebrations, conventions, casinos, proms, anniversaries, reunions and many, many weddings in and around New Orleans. He loved his band, loved his fellow musicians and loved playing music. Musicians bond tightly over the years and become a true band of brothers, if they are lucky. While he may have left us in body, his insatiable lust for life, infectious laughter, unforgettable smile, piercing blue eyes and deep love for family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. He was incredibly loyal to those lucky enough to call him a friend. There was no limit to what he would do - day in and day out - for those that he loved. Bill was a man of great creativity; he was strong and opinionated. He thrived on solving problems that didn’t involve hand tools and providing solutions for those that turned to him. He took great joy in lively conversations and was known to spend hours doing just that. He was truly special. Bill loved his wife and, together, they went to great lengths to leave only minimal psychological scarring on their children. For many of us and in many ways, he inspired tremendous enthusiasm for love and life, and will continue to make us laugh. Rest in peace, Bill.
