Suzanne Faure Barton

Suzanne Faure Barton passed away at home on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at the age of 95. She was born in New Orleans on April 23, 1931 and a longtime resident of Metairie, Louisiana. Suzanne graduated from Ursuline Academy and attended Newcomb College. She was a Federal Civil Servant of 25 years with multiple agencies from U.S. Naval Intelligence to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers taking time off to raise children. In 2010, at the age of 79 she worked for the U.S. Census going door to door. She loved meeting new people and speaking about the city she adored, working as a volunteer and docent at Longue Vue House and Garden for over 20 years. Suzanne loved to travel and saw the world from the U.S. to China and everywhere in between with family and close friends. She was an avid gardener, cat lover, supporter and season ticket holder for the New Orleans and Louisiana Philharmonic Symphony Orchestras. She played bridge with multiple groups of friends throughout her years until July of 2026. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Little Barton. Loving mother of six, Jeanne Barton Bignell (Derrick) and Elizabeth Barton Middlebrooks (Keith). Stepmother of Bruce Darryl Barton, Patricia Barton Vaughn (Ray), Barbara Barton Johnson (Wally) and Charles David Barton (Debbie). Grandmother of William Rees, Gabriel Bignell, Amelie Bignell, Lauren Middlebrooks, Clark Barton, Robin Vaughn, Marla Vaughn, Christopher Ferson, Andrew Murphy, Timothy Murphy, Hannah Barton Castle, Benjamin Barton, Nathanael Barton, Jonathan Barton, Stephen Barton, Hope Barton-Cordova, Micah Barton and Jeremy Barton. Great Grandmother (GG) to twenty-four and Great-great Grandmother to three. Daughter of the late Edna Crassons Faure and George Tibulle Faure. Sister of Pierre Faure (Amelie) and the late George Faure. Aunt of David Faure, Steven Faure, Mamie Faure, Tom Faure and the late Suzanne Faure.
