Ruth Burst Falanga

Ruth Burst Falanga, age 97, a resident of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. She was born on April 18, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Guy John Burst, Sr. and Ruth Carey Burst. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Emile C. Falanga and by her parents, Guy John Burst, Sr. and Ruth Carey Burst and by her siblings; Guy Burst, Jr., Charles Burst, Bernard Burst, Sr. Mary Maurice Burst, D.C., Roland Burst, Paul Burst, Peter Burst and Gayle Burst Tournillon. She is survived by her children: Sue F. Kottemann (Richard); LTC Daniel J. Falanga, ARNG, Ret. (Lynn); Elizabeth F. Lomax (Kent); James E. Falanga (Brenda), and by her grandchildren: Michelle K. Conaway; Jennifer A. Kottemann (SSG Lance, USA, (RET); MAJ Jeremy D. Falanga, USA, (RET); (Adrienne); Lisa F. Davis; Brian C. Lomax (Leigh Anne); Kevin M. Lomax (Melissa); Jeffrey D. Falanga, USAF, (RET) (Emily); and Jessica Falanga. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Stephen High School in New Orleans. Ruth Falanga will be remembered for her strength, determination, wit and her loveliness in new ways. She dedicated her life to her family and always had a listening ear and a ready hug when needed for those she loved. She enjoyed working in her garden and was a fierce and loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints. She loved trying new things and was always ready for the next adventure. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 4337 Sal Lentini Parkway in Kenner on Saturday, August 16, 2025. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Internment will take place at St. Vincent Cemetery No. 2, 1950 Soniat Street, New Orleans.
