Mary Ann Calamari

Mary Ann Calamari entered into eternal rest on June 9, 2023 at the age of 80 with her family by her side. She lived in Metairie, La where she remained a lifelong resident. Mary Ann was an in home child care provider to all of her grandchildren and many of her friends children. Mary Ann was a motherly and grandmotherly figure and made an impact on all of those she cared for. Caring for children was at the top of Mary Ann’s list, but it wasn’t the only thing she enjoyed doing. A few of the many things Mary Ann loved were cooking, gardening and playing cards. Baked chicken with ramen noodles, stuffed artichokes and meatball soup were some of her special recipes everyone loved. Be it flowers or vegetables, Mary Ann’s garden always had something growing. She was so proud to show off how big her peppers and tomatoes got. Tuesdays were dinner and rummy night with the family. Let’s just say she won nearly every hand and not because we let her win. Mary Ann was such an amazing, loving and welcoming person. Everyone in the neighborhood knew her door was always open and that no matter what it was they needed, she likely had it. Her heart was made of pure gold and the love and light she radiated will be missed dearly by so many. Mary Ann was the beloved wife of the late Marion Calamari. She is survived by three children: Darlene Jones (Gerry), Melinda Levy (Wade) and Kevin Calamari (Angie). Daughter of the late Anthony P. Maggiore and Rosalie H. Maggiore. Sister of the late Anthony L. Maggiore (Billie) and Angelina P. Maggiore. Granny to Sabrina Coello (Eric), Gabrielle Tharp (Brandon), Victoria Jones (Trenell), Gino Rodriguez, Megan Flettrich (Johnny) and the late Cameron Calamari. Great Granny to Janeal Langley, Dawson Calamari, Dakota Gratia, Jaxon Flettrich, Mallory Gray, Londyn Flettrich, Dax Gray and soon to arrive Baby Jones. Mary Ann was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the Visitation and Funeral Service. Visitation at L.A.
