Jeanette Connolly

Jeanette Connolly, 84 years old, of Metairie, LA joined her husband, Capt. Edwin E. Connolly, Jr. and son, Mark Connolly, at our Lord’s side Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Jeanette also known as Jenny, was born Dorothy Jeanette in Anderson, SC. She was a high school graduate of the Seneca High School class of46'. Her mother passed away when Jeanette was just 16 years old and she took a job as a telephone operator for Southern Bell to support her and her family. During the latter years of WWII she met and married her life’s long love of over 65 years, Edwin E. Connolly, Jr. and they both raised 4 children. Jeanette battled a several year history of heart failure. She was a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very active in all her children’s lives. She participated as a Cub Scouts Den Mother and served as a endeared member of The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America, Post No. 6640. Jeanette had a more than 30 year career in marketing research for N.O. Field Services and Analytical Studies gathering consumer product information for many of the products we all buy and use today. Jeanette was a devout Christian and it was at The First Baptist Church of Kenner where she attended and served her Lord for over 45 years. She was most passionate and proud of this facet of her life. Jeanette was a strong-willed woman who always promoted love, tolerance, understanding and peace and who would gain serenity simply from a sunset or the singing of the birds. She will be missed in our community by all who knew and loved her. Jeanette leaves behind her daughter and son-in-law, Vikki and John Asselstine, son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Sky and Teresa Connolly in addition to 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sole surviving sister in South Carolina, Frances Brown and her family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral. Service at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to The First Baptist Church of Kenner, Senior Adult Ministry, P.O. Box 1357, Kenner, LA 70063.
