Harris Alton Dardar, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 15, 2014. He was 95, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Violet, LA for 63 years. Beloved husband of 66 years to Lodia Hotard Dardar. Son of the late Cecile Billiot and Emile Darda and honorary son of the late Angelique Greco. Loving father of Lovency Billiot (Kathy), Daniel Dardar (Patricia), Jimmy Dardar, Harris Dardar, Jr. (Doris), David Dardar, Sr. (Brenda), MaryAnn Dardar Chaisson (Robert, Sr.), Janet Dardar Barron (Benton, Sr.) and the late Roland Dardar (Julie). Brother of Andrew Verdin, Edna Dantin, Rose Danos, Rita Pitre, Theresa Billiot, Lilly D. Martin, Lionel Greco and the late Alex Darda, Innerce Darda, Harry Darda, Jack Darda, Emelda D. Caufield, Emile Darda, Jr., Johnny Greco, Adam Naquin, Ramos Naquin and Oliver Naquin. Grandfather of Lovency “Dolly” Billiot, Darren Billiot, Deanne O’Connor, Destrie Gonzales, Roland Michael Dardar, Robin Pampo, Shelly Ashan, Danny Dardar, Kandie Dudenhefer, Jesse Dardar, Linda Rosas, James Dardar, Timothy Dardar, Jonathan Dardar, Chris Dardar, Harris “Tony” Dardar, Lisa Lanier, Julie Borrouso, David Dardar Jr., Jared Dardar, Julienne Molinere, Tiffany Englert, Robert Chaisson, Jr. and the late Tiffany Lynn Dardar and Joseph L. “Joe-Joe” Miserendino, Jr. Also survived by great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews. Harris Dardar loved God with his whole heart, praising and sharing the Good News about his Savior daily. He loved his family and friends with a genuine tenderness and enjoyment. Having been a member of the 400th Military Police Battalion in the U.S. Army from December 1942 until January 1947, Harris participated in the African, Middle Eastern, and European Campaigns. One such campaign landed him on the Utah Beach in Normandy, France during the invasion on D-Day. Before being honorably discharged from the army, Harris Dardar was awarded the following: the Silver Rifle and four Battle Stars, the Bronze Arrowhead and the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon. After years of service both in and out of the army, Harris Dardar retired at the age of 80. Those who knew him will say that he worked tirelessly, loved sincerely, and will continue to be respected by many. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at L. A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Poydras Baptist Church, 8213 Saro Ln, St Bernard, LA with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, Kenilworth, LA.
