Errolyn Mary Nussbaum Villarrubia

Errolyn Mary Nussbaum Villarrubia, born October 10, 1942, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A proud New Orleanian, Errolyn graduated from John McDonogh High School in 1960 and later attended Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She worked in the office of C.W. Nussbaum Electric Co., and after marrying the love of her life, Donald Joseph Villarrubia, devoted herself to creating a warm and loving home. Married for 60 years, Errolyn and Don built a life marked by faith, family, and deep devotion to one another. Later in life, Errolyn earned her real estate license and worked with Bertucci and Associates, where she enjoyed helping others find a place to call home. Errolyn lived her faith with dedication and joy. A long-standing member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and later Grace Lutheran Church, she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School to kindergartners for more than 25 years, and served in many roles within the congregation. She also cherished her time volunteering at the Lakeview Shepherd Center. She found deep peace in gardening, nurturing her plants with the same care and tenderness she offered to the people in her life. Errolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Joseph Villarrubia, and by her parents, Carl W. Nussbaum and Elizabeth Herquet Nussbaum. She is survived by her children: Michael D. Villarrubia (Mary), Errolyn V. Letellier (David), and Angele V. Young (Louis). She was a devoted grandmother to David, Danielle, Nicholas, Dalton, Abigail, Jared, and Benjamin, and a proud great grandmother to seven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were blessed to be part of her life. A celebration of Errolyn’s life will be held at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5800 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, on Thursday, March 12, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and a funeral service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Grace Lutheran Church or the Arthritis Foundation, organizations that were meaningful to Errolyn. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers—especially the nurses at Heart of Hospice and the staff at St. Anthony’s Community Care Center—for their kindness and compassionate care. Errolyn will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
