Edward Vernon Heughan, Jr.

Edward Vernon Heughan, Jr., age 91, went to be with the love of his life, Molly and his Lord and Savior Jesus, on April 18, 2012. Beloved son of the late Edward Vernon Heughan, Sr. and Anna Oulliber. Brother of the late Gordon P. Heughan. Loving father of Margaret Fahr (Walter), Vernon P. Heughan (Becky), Vickie Martinson and Alan Heughan (Debbie). Beloved grandfather of David (Janet), Michael (Cheryl), Stacey (Bryan), Melissa (Michael), Jennifer Boatman (John) and great grandfather of Joshua, Ethan, Hunter, Michael Jr. and Travis. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews, Paul Jr. (Becky), Deanna, Guy (Janelle), Cecelia, Clifford (Christine), Mary Ann, Gordon Jr., and Mark. Edward was born and raised in Madisonville, LA and attended the University of North Carolina before serving in the United States Army, 102nd Division 9th Army during WWII. He was a decorated officer having received two Purple Hearts after seeing action in France, Belgium and Germany. After active duty, he was promoted to Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves. Edward was a salesman for Time Life Corporation and a salesman for Commerce Clearing House for twenty-five years. As a founding member of St. Mary Magdalen Parish, he served as usher for many years. He was an avid reader, tremendous sports enthusiast and techno-geek. Edward was a great fan of the New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers. He spent his last year at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, Reserve, LA, where he participated in all activities. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made out to the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, Attn: Sonya Hebert, Activities Directory, 4080 West Airline Hwy., Reserve, LA 70084. The family would like to express their special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Andrew St. Martin, and the entire staff at the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans Home and River Parishes Hospital. Relatives and friends (Saints and LSU attire appropriate) are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 6425 West Metairie Ave., Metairie, LA 70003, on Monday, April 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at the church on Monday after 9:00 a.m. Interment in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
