Connie Moreno Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce that our dear mother has entered eternal rest. Beloved wife of the late Rafael “Rafa”, she was predeceased by her parents, brother Jorge, sisters Amanda and Nena and her precious grandsons: Rafael III “Bebe” and Roje. She is survived by her loving son, Rafael “Ralph”, daughter Zully (Matthew), her treasured grandson Zachary and her sister Letty (George). She also leaves behind to cherish her memory many nieces and nephews. Connie was devout to her Catholic faith. She always offered a warm welcome and embrace. It was not unusual for her to open her home and provide warm meals to those in need when doing volunteer work at the Consulate in downtown New Orleans. Connie enjoyed immensely her career as a cosmetologist, her clients were not just clients, but many became valued friends who she continued to enjoy visits and lunches with years after her retirement. She was an avid reader, many times she missed her streetcar or bus stop due to being immersed in her books. Once we moved to Metairie, we all recall often getting phone calls to go pick her up at the Airport because she kept reading through all the stops until the driver announced the end of the line. The downtown library was one of her favorite hang outs. Always a tasteful fashionista who loved fashion, she had a little tomboy streak when it came to sports. She would stay up to wee hours of the morning watching baseball (the Braves) and basketball (the Bulls) She could outshine any male with her knowledge of players, their stats and plays. She could also keep up with a cocktail or two with dad and the guys when the occasion called for a few rounds. Whether a Sunday picnic at Lake Pontchartrain, rides at City Park, lunches at Frost Top, parades every night on Carrollton and Canal during Mardi Gras season, Connie brought the fun to every occasion. The New Year’s Eve parties at the house (fully decorated) always lasted well into New Year’s Day. Cheer is synonymous with our mom. Connie had a passion for plants/gardening, she crocheted and sewed beautifully. She was a phenomenal force in the kitchen as many can attest. She never hesitated to offer and whip up a quick-fresh homemade delicacy whenever friends stopped by. Connie’s other passion was travel, she was a cosmopolitan global trekker always jetting off to foreign locations with family and friends. She touched so many with her warm smiles, hearty laughs, lovingly smothering hugs, and kisses. She was a fierce supporter, protector, confidant, and friend to her children and will forever be cherished, loved and remembered. Family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance held at L. A. Muhleisen & Son * 2607 Williams Blvd.* Kenner, LA. 70062 on Monday December 11,2023 between 2 pm and 4 pm. If one wishes to donate in Connie’s memory, her favorite charity was Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
