Clara Faye Mitcham

Clara Faye Mitcham, age 87, was born on February 24th, 1939 in Leesville, LA and departed this world peacefully with daughter Angela and granddaughter Lindsey at her side on February 28, 2026 at 12:50pm. She is survived by her sister, Huela; her four children, John William Centanni, Alason Centanni Parr (Dean), Benjamin Pigott Centanni, and Angela Centanni Broussard (Paul); her granddaughters, Lindsey Sells Henry (Gareth), Alexa Parr Morin (Robert), Micah Parr Francis (Mitchell), and Natalie Parr Gunderson (Jonah). The lights of her life were her six great-grandchildren, Sophia Louise Henry, Robby Thomas Morin, Clara Jane Francis, Vivian Claire Henry, Tatum Marie Morin, and Levi William Francis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Eula Pigott Mitcham; her siblings, Betty, Kenneth, and Patsy; and her great-granddaughter, June Marie Gunderson. Clara made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was a paralegal by profession; and in her later years worked at Jefferson Council on Aging, a job she was especially proud of. She was a fan of all things New Orleans; Mardi Gras, Saints Football, and delicious food, especially roast beef poboys. She enjoyed sharing meals with those she cared about. She loved cooking, sewing, and playing Scrabble. She was an avid reader until the decline of her eyesight; she then enjoyed listening to audiobooks. Her joy in singing songs, especially to her great grandchildren, stayed with her until the very end. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Celebration of Life at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd, Kenner, Louisiana, on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations to be made in Clara's honor to Lighthouse for the blind (lighthouselouisiana.org) or New Orleans Speech and Hearing Center (noshc.org).
