Chet William Kelly Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Chet William Kelly, a native and resident of New Orleans, La., Chet passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 62, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered. Chet was born November 28, 1961. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Francis "Bill" and Odine B. Kelly. Survived by his son, Chet William Kelly, Jr. (Carrie), former spouse and significant other, Lisa deGress, his sisters) Francine Kelly-Lacour (Roddy), Jill Kelly Frisard (Leon, deceased), Luanne Cabellero (Herb, deceased), Judy Murphy (Joseph); nieces and nephews, Justin B. Schmalz, Kayla K. Schmalz, Noel F. Frisard, Chuck Dominick, Carly Dominick, Brenna Murphy Malak (Cyril), Megan Murphy (John) Moynihan, and Joseph (Meagan) Murphy, Jr., along with countless friends and relatives. For the past 40 years, Chet dedicated himself to his craft as a Licensed Plumber in Orleans Parish, however, Chet's zest for life extended far beyond his profession. He was an adventurer at heart, finding peace and joy in the great outdoors and the beauty of living on the water. Chet was always ready to celebrate life's moments with his friends and family. Whether it was casting a fishing line, going on one of his many hunting trips, enjoying Cajun food with his loved ones, or simply sharing a cold beer, Chet embraced every opportunity to make lasting memories. He had the remarkable ability to make connections with anyone he encountered. He had an infectious sense of humor, with a knack for finding the lighter side of life which effortlessly brought smiles to the ones around him. Without even trying, he captured the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. His loved ones hold countless stories of his vibrant presence, ensuring that Chet's spirit will live on through the tales they share for years to come. Chet William Kelly, a true original, will never be forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at L. A. Muhleisen and Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
