Carolyn Schuler Toups

Carolyn Schuler Toups entered eternal rest on Tuesday September 13th, 2022 at the age of 87, at her home in Metairie, Louisiana. She was born on November 26th, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas to her loving parents Lester D. and Ida Lee Schuler. The family moved to New Orleans when Carolyn was 8 years old. She resided in Metairie, Louisiana for the last 64 years. On June 10, 1955, she married the love of her life, Lawrence P. Toups. They were married for 65 years until his death. Carolyn was a longstanding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Harahan, Louisiana. Her love for children extended well beyond her own, as she continuously strove to bring joy and happiness into the lives of others. She taught Sunday School at Faith for many years. She was also very supportive of the Faith Lutheran School, where she joyfully read stories to the children on a weekly basis. Carolyn was a selfless homemaker who, after raising her children, worked as a sales consultant for World Book Encyclopedia. She took great joy in bringing education into the homes of others and considered it her duty to enrich the lives of others through scholastic pursuits. For more than 30 years, Carolyn was an ardent member of the TOPS organization, where she served as Chapter Leader at LA0015 Metairie for many years and was also a member of LA0022 Metairie. Carolyn was a beloved Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, were the joy of her life. “Maw Maw” was loved by everyone that knew her and lead an exemplary life. She will be sorely missed by all. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lawrence P. Toups Jr., her parents Ida Lee and Lester D. Schuler Sr. and her brother Lester D. Schuler Jr. She is survived by her sons, Lawrence P. Toups III, Thomas H. Toups, daughter Karen T. Carr (Jay), grandchildren Larry Toups, Dennis Toups, James Carr IV, Mandi Nicholas(Casey), Wesley Toups(Katie), Jeffrey Toups(Hayley) and by six great grandchildren Phillip, Marina, Marcus, Wesley Jr., Isaac and Andrew Toups, who brought so much joy to her life.
