Brian Hanley Bordes

Brian Hanley Bordes was born in New Orleans, LA, was a resident of Metairie, LA, and graduate of East Jefferson High School. Brian was a quiet and humble man that won people over with his kindness and wit. In his younger years he developed his love for sports and his passion for basketball above all else. He played at Johnny Bright playground where he made many lifelong friends and his coach became a mentor and like a second father to him. His passion for basketball exploded into coaching youth. He began his coaching career with the 18 and up boys’ team, but his true joy was found during the decades he spent coaching girls’ basketball within Jefferson Parish Recreation Department and several AAU teams. He was an incredibly smart man who knew countless fun facts and just about every sports statistic there was. He was wildly competitive, and rarely lost when challenged to a game of Scrabble or trivia. He loved music, and was a self-proclaimed master at “Name That Tune.” His intelligence helped him succeed in his career in insurance where he became a Senior Analyst and had the opportunity to travel the country. He was exceptionally proud that he had visited 49 of the 50 states, missing only a visit to the state of Montana. Brian enjoyed reading, word puzzles, drinking coffee and spending time at the house with his wife, five children, extended family, and his dog Penelope. Beloved husband of Christi Nash Bordes. Loving father of Lindsey Bordes, Abby Bordes,Cole Bordes, Ali Rae Sheppard (Jacqueline), Jenna Sheppard and Penelope Bordes (Fur-Baby). Son of the late John Horace Bordes, Sr. and Zoe Anne Hanley Bordes. Brother of John Bordes, Jr., Daniel Bordes, Zoe Aldige and the late Scott Bordes, David Bordes and James Bordes. In-law of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Nash,, Mr. & Mrs. Bryan Hale and Mr. & Mrs. David Dunn. Also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews, family members and countless players in the J.P.R.D. family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA on Thursday, June 30, 2022.
