Betty Daigrepont Russell

Betty Lou Daigrepont Russell, on July 27, 2023 went to the Angels in eternal rest after awaiting our Lord’s embrace from this world. She entered this world on September 17, 1935 as a share croppers’ daughter born to Adrien and Blanche Daigrepont of Bordelonville, Louisiana both who have predeceased her in death. She is predeceased by her late husband, Charles J Russell, Jr.,her brothers, Leo Daigrepont, Roy Daigrepont, Eugene Daigrepont and sisters Florence Daigrepont Clarke and Lucille Daigrepont Anderson. She is survived by her brother Edgar Daigrepont and sister, Elizabeth Ann Burmaster . Betty is proudly survived by her four children, Judy Ann Russell, Sgt. Charles J. Russell, III, USMC, Jennifer Russell Thompson (Brad) and Jeffrey Russell. With complete love and affection, Betty is survived by her four granddaughters Olivia Russell, Jamie Russell, Nikki Russell, and Sophie Russell. Betty worked at Henry Stern Antiques at 329 Royal Street where she acquired a passion and appreciation for the antique and collectible industry obtaining a love for items of the past, their antiquity and fineness under the tutelage of Henry Stern who was known as an antique and collectible icon in New Orleans’ antique industry. Betty is a proud alumnus of Loyola University where she achieved her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice. Following her college education, Betty taught law enforcement and corrections, in the Criminal Justice program at Delgado Community College educating many men and women who sought to pursue a career in the law enforcement and criminal justice profession. In 1986, following her instructor’s fulfillment to Delgado Community College ,Betty pursued a career in the insurance industry where she began as a Financial Advisor for Prudential Insurance Companies of America. Betty would excel in this industry achieving status as an AVP in Jacksonville, Florida and soon the assignment of District Manager for the Southwest District of San Antonio, Texas until her much awaited return home to manage the District in New Orleans, Louisiana where she would ultimately retire. Betty’s tireless efforts in the insurance industry achieved her Agent of Year , Ring of Champions and Presidential Award for her excellence and high production in the insurance industry. Betty’s business and insurance ethic was encompassed with respect and integrity which were key elements to her success. While she enjoyed a successful career, she was an avid tennis player throughout the years which began with teaching tennis at Westgate Country Club and continued as a member of several tennis organizations at Ormond Country Club and Chateau Country Club. Although her long walk in life has ended, her heavenly journey has just begun. Our sadness is only a brief chapter to our reunion. May we rejoice in her joy and peace and cherish our memories to get us through, until we meet again! Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass on August 5, 2023. Visitation will be held at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by L.A.
