In Loving Memory of August Charles DiGiovanni August 14, 1944 – July 29, 2026 August Charles DiGiovanni, 81, of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. Born on August 14, 1944, in Kenner, Louisiana, August was the son of the late Matteo C. DiGiovanni and Marguerite Jumonville DiGiovanni. A proud lifelong resident of Kenner, he loved his hometown and the community where he spent most of his life. August proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Prairie (AD-15). During his military service, he was also a talented ice hockey player, proudly representing the Navy. His service to his country was one of the greatest honors of his life and reflected the dedication and patriotism that remained with him throughout his years. Following his military service, August built a dedicated career with the Jefferson Parish Pumping Station, where he worked for many years before retiring to enjoy the rest of his days doing what he loved most—fishing. He also worked alongside the Louisiana State Police as a private investigator. Through that work, he formed many lifelong friendships with the men and women he was proud to call his friends. Family was always at the center of August's life. He devoted countless hours to coaching his children's sports teams at Butch Duhe Playground in Kenner, creating treasured memories that his family will forever cherish. Whether spending time at his fishing camp, sharing coffee with old friends, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, August found happiness in life's simple pleasures. August was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Matteo C. DiGiovanni and Marguerite Jumonville DiGiovanni, and by his beloved son, Sean A. DiGiovanni. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Danielle DiGiovanni, who faithfully became his devoted caregiver during the last three years of his life, and her partner, Joshua Solis; his brother, Alden DiGiovanni and his wife, Linda; and his cherished grandchildren, Kade, Bianca (Jacob), Gavin, Grayson, Harleigh, and Henley. He also leaves behind many dear friends, especially those he met during his years working with the Louisiana State Police, as well as extended family members and all whose lives were enriched by knowing him. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Donald Vitrano for his friendship, loyalty, and support during the last few years of August's life, helping him through some of his most difficult times. We would also like to sincerely thank the many nurses and physicians who cared for Dad with dignity, compassion, and respect throughout his journey. A very special thank you goes to The Crossing Hospice for the exceptional care, comfort, and kindness they provided, ensuring that Dad's final days were filled with peace and compassion. August will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, Navy veteran, investigator, coach, and friend. His strength, loyalty, resilience, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on through those who loved him, and his memory will forever remain in their hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and may his memory forever be a blessing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Service at L. A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd., Kenner, LA on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by his funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will take place directly after at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA.
